Chemistry is defined as the science of transformations and encompasses three distinct scales: the macroscopic, microscopic, and the nano.
The Chemistry course at the Mackenzie Presbyterian University was founded in 1974 and is based on solid knowledge in the following areas: Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Nanotechnology. The course has excellent infrastructure of teaching and research laboratories. The Chemistry course is located at the Engineering School of the Mackenzie Presbyterian University allowing a close connection with the Materials, Civil, Production, Mechanical and Electrical engineering courses. The course promotes the creativity of graduates and broad collaborations in the development of new nanomaterials, energy, industrial processes and the environment, etc. Therefore, students graduated in Chemistry will be able to work in different areas of science, such as Medicine, Biology, Pharmacy, synthesis of new materials, development of industrial chemical processes, environmental studies, in addition to the areas of expertise and centers of excellence in research.
The Mackenzie Presbyterian University offers the baccalaureate and Chemistry teaching option that can also be taken as a single course. There is also the possibility of acquiring the technological option in chemistry by attending some elective courses in the subject engineering course of the School of Engineering.

Job market

Some of the main opportunities are in the industry (analysis of raw materials and finished products) due to the increasing demand for more sophisticated products. Research chemists work in Research Centers and University Laboratories. The Chemical is essential in the areas of Environmental Sanitation and Treatment of Industrial Effluents. Chemical expertise is also increasingly prominent in recent times.
