Summer Courses or Summer Programs are offered by the MPU for international students, some of which are also open to MPU students. These courses usually take place in July (summer in Europe, United States, Canada and Asian countries), but may also take place in January. MPU has invested in international partnerships to expand the offer of summer courses.

State University of New York Summer Program – It is a specific program designed for students of State University of New York. They spend part of the vacations of July in the Higienópolis campus. The course can receive Brazilian students in some of the disciplines, which are taught in English. The purpose of receiving Brazilian student in this program is to provide contact to American students in an exchange of cultural experiences. Currently the course is composed of the following subjects: Portuguese for foreigners, Religious syncretism in Brazil and Contemporary Brazilian society.

Exchanging Hemispheres - Exchanging Hemispheres - It is an event of academic immersion, exchange of experiences, broadening horizons, in a foreign language culture. The program seeks to promote courses in foreign languages, taught by visiting professors, with the participation of professors from MPU. The program consists of the following courses:

Mediation: Theory and Practice - explores the issue of mediation, a topic of growing interest in Brazil, due to the approval of Federal Law nº 13.140/2015, which institutionalizes and encourages an alternative model of conflict and dispute resolution.

Inter-American System of Human Rights - aimed at presenting the theoretical and practical tools of supra-national protection to human rights, in the face of contexts of institutionalized violation;

Access to Justice and University Clinics - discusses the theoretical and practical bases of the legal free service to disadvantaged communities and vulnerable social segments, with special emphasis on the model of university clinics.

Brazilian Cuisine Roots - It is a summer course offered to international and MPU students. It presents the roots of Brazilian cuisine and the cultural, social and regional aspects associated with it. With practical classes supported by theoretical classes and guided visits to the gastronomic milestones of São Paulo, the student has the opportunity to understand the regional traditions, which are fundamental for the consolidation of our rich gastronomy.

Summer School Transcultural Design –This course aims at providing an immersive experience in Brazilian Design along with other nations’ design schools. We have been devolving this course along with French Institutions.

Brazil and São Paulo History – Architecture and History – This summer course aims at proving an immersive experience in the Brazilian culture and in the culture of the State of São Paulo. Students are invited to taste, see and feel the richness of our multicultural nation.

Portuguese for Foreigners -  This course was specially designed for foreigners intending to improve their skills in Portuguese language or to have their first contact with the language. Much more than only classroom lessons, the students have the opportunity to experience the “real Brazilian Portuguese” outside the classroom.
