Head of the Center participates in the 8th Freedom and Democracy Forum

On the last November 6th, the Head of the Mackenzie Center for Economic Freedom participated in the city of Vitória in the 8th Freedom and Democracy Forum, promoted by the Leaders of Tomorrow Institute (Instituto Líderes do Amanhã).

The Forum promotes essential debates for social construction and brings together businessmen, politicians, philosophers, sociologists and economists who are references in their fields of action, nationally and internationally, to enrich discussions and contribute effectively to society.

Dr. Maciel composed a closing table with the theme: “Free Market: a human right” and had as its interlocutors TAL TSFANY - current president of the Ayn Rand Institute - and Tom Palmer - General Director of Atlas Global Initiative for Free Trade, Peace, and Prosperity.

 

 

 

In his speech, the Head of the Center stressed that the free market is closely associated with the basic rights to life and freedom. Finally, he also stated that contrary to what most people may think, the market is not a myth or an institution elaborated by a single person, because it is a mechanism / institution that allows everyone to have compatible desires and desires through exchanges and mutual cooperation.

The event ended with the Liberty Award to businessman Jorge Gerdau Balbi Johannpeter, current chairman of the Gerdau Group's board of directors.
