Estamos em busca de um pesquisador em nível de pós-doutorado para integrar o nosso Projeto intitulado ‘Poverty reduction, mental health and the chances of young people: understanding mechanisms through analyses from 6 low- and middle-income countries’ – CHANCES6.
O projeto internacional multicêntrico CHANCES6 tem financiamento do Economic and Social Research Conuncil - ESRC da Inglaterra com coordenaçao do PSSRU da London School of Economics (LSE0 e tem como principal objetivo compreender as relações entre pobreza e saúde mental em jovens, examinando o impacto de políticas de redução da pobreza na saúde mental, nas oportunidades de vida e no risco futuro de pobreza.

Post-Doc Position in International Research Project
“Poverty reduction, mental health and the chances of young people: understanding mechanisms through analyses from 6 low- and middle-income countries”
The selected candidate will be part of an international research project, led by Dr. Cristiane Silvestre de Paula at the Universidade Presbisteriana Mackenzie (UPM) and Dr. Alicia Matijasevich at the Universidade de São Paulo (USP). The study is linked with London School of Economics and funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
The project aims to systematically assess the relationship between cash transfer programs and mental health of adolescents in six countries: Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, South Africa, Liberia and Malawi. The project will use both quantitative as well as qualitative methods, and offers the unique opportunity to work with renowned researchers from the London School of Economics and Political Science, King’s College London, the University of Cape Town, the Universidad de los Andes, UPM and USP.
The selected candidate will be based in the Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie in São Paulo, Brazil (https://www.mackenzie.br/) and work under direct supervision of Dr. Cristiane Silvestre de Paula (http://buscatextual.cnpq.br/buscatextual/visualizacv.do?id=K4188255T2) and Dr. Alicia Matijasevich (http://buscatextual.cnpq.br/buscatextual/visualizacv.do?id=K4771683A3). The work will be mainly in quantitative analysis and harmonization of several datasets, as well as, conducting a systematic review and drafting of peer-reviewed publications in collaboration with the international team. Furthermore, the post-doc is expected to support an organization of a Brazilian scientific event related to this project.
The salary of around 7.300,00 Brazilian Reais per month is competitive. The initial contract will be for one year with the possibility of renewal for 12 more months, and includes the scholarship plus a laptop.
REQUIREMENTS
Those applying should meet the following requirements:
· Have completed a Ph.D. in a social sciences discipline, statistics, epidemiology, public health, mental health, economics, or related field.
· Willingness to spend full time in the project.
· Experience in working with longitudinal data.
· Experience in applying quantitative methods for policy evaluation (especially with advanced statistical methods such as regression-discontinuity designs, structural equation modeling and mediation analysis) is desirable.
· Demonstrated experience in drafting publications for peer-reviewed journals (in English).
· Ability to effectively communicate in Portuguese (oral and written).
· Ability to work independently and conduct high-quality research.
· Understanding of poverty alleviation programs and/or the interface between poverty and (mental) health.
