Synthesis and Characterization of Metal-Organic Frameworks for electronic devices

FAPESP postdoctoral position in a project related to the synthesis and characterization of metal-organic frameworks thin-films for electronic devices.

About the Project

Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are a versatile class of materials with unique properties such as high crystallinity, high surface area, and high porosity. MOFs have been widely applied in gas storage and catalysis. More recently, their structural and chemical tunability revealed an intrinsic potential for technological applications in the field of electronic devices. The control of MOFs structure via coordination chemistry brings new properties, like reactivity, conduction, and magnetism. Furthermore, we can explore the MOFs pores for post-synthetic modification and doping. The post-doc position will have the opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary project, combining the MOF properties controlled by synthesis with device integration. This challenging field can bring significant advances in the area of MOFtronics.

 Key project aims

  • Synthesis of MOFs/SURMOFs materials from different routes.
  • Explore the tunable MOFs structure to achieve specific properties.
  • Characterize the structure, chemical, and electrical properties of MOFs;
  • Work in collaboration with Master’s and Ph.D. students.

Requirements and how to apply

Requirements include a Ph.D. degree in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or Materials Science. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Previous experience in coordination chemistry and synthesis of MOFs structures is a must, and experience in the electrical characterization of electronic materials is desired.
